“It’s not what you say, it’s how you make people feel” — Chris Turner

Every family has a story. This is mine.

Growing up, disability was never something I learnt about from a textbook. It was simply part of our family's everyday life.

When I was seven years old, my younger brother Charlie was born with Noonan syndrome. After spending time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), he came home for just six weeks before becoming critically unwell and returning to hospital, where he spent the next 247 days in intensive care. From that point on, hospitals, appointments and therapies became part of our normal.

Watching my parents navigate those challenges taught me lessons that still guide me today. They showed me the importance of kindness, resilience, compassion and always showing up for people.

Despite everything he faced, Charlie was one of the happiest people I've ever known. He had a cheeky sense of humour, loved quoting movies and TV shows, and always wanted everyone to feel included. Whether it was making sure his future apartment would be wheelchair accessible for a friend or proudly wearing a Hawaiian shirt on the first day of every holiday, he found joy in life's little moments.

Looking back, it's those moments that shaped me the most.

As I began working in the disability sector, I found myself asking one simple question every day:

If this participant were Charlie, how would I want them to be supported?

That question became the foundation of the way I work.

When Charlie passed away in February 2025, I knew I wanted his legacy to continue making a difference. I wanted to turn my family's lived experience into something meaningful for other families, and that's how Cloud Care & Coordination came to life.

My understanding of disability comes from both a personal and professional perspective. I've experienced the disability sector as a family member and as a professional. That means I understand not only the systems and processes, but also the emotions that come with navigating them.

More than anything, I want every participant and family to feel heard, understood and genuinely cared for. No one should have to navigate the disability and NDIS space feeling alone.

Cloud Care & Coordination is built on the values my family taught me. Charlie taught me joy and purpose. Mum taught me patience, strength and compassion. Dad taught me to lead, solve problems and always remember that "it's not what you say, it's how you make people feel." Holly taught me that sometimes the greatest support isn't fixing every problem. It's listening without judgement and standing beside someone when they need it most.

That's what Cloud Care & Coordination is built on.
